1953 NATIONAL SOCCER LEAGUE

Review of the season

Before the season started Ukrainian Tridents and Toronto Italia joined the National Soccer League. Toronto Italia, formerly known as the Italo-Canadians, had been playing in the Can-Con League. Tridents joined the league from the Toronto Metro Soccer League.

On Friday June 19 Les Medley signed for Ulster United. The Toronto Star described him as the biggest soccer star to sign for a Canadian club since the 1920’s.

Toronto Ukraina won the league and playoff championships.
