Gerhard Horst Borchert was born on May 11, 1932, in Germany. Gerhard had played soccer for SV Darmstadt 98 and FC Schweinfurt 05 in Germany. He played in the Oberliga Süd with Schweinfurt in the 1953-54 season.
He joined Toronto club Olympia in May 1956. Olympia finished in fifth place in the 1956 National Soccer League season. He was the NSL’s leading goal scorer in the 1956 season.
In 1957 he was the leading goal scorer in the National Soccer League. His goals helped Olympia to a third place finish in the ten team league in the 1957 National Soccer League season.
Gerhard scored 39 league goals in the 1958 National Soccer League season. He was the NSL leading goalscorer as the club finished in third place in the 15 team league.
Gerhard passed away at the age of 70 on October 20, 2002, in Peterborough, Ontario.
