On Sunday October 27, 1929 Hakoah All-Stars and Montreal Canadian National Railway met in an exhibition game at Ebbets Field in Brooklyn. Hakoah All-Stars had won the 1929 United States Challenge Cup and featured many former European star players. Montreal Canadian Nationals had won the Dominion Cup, the Lord Atholstan Trophy and the Eastern Section of the National Soccer League.

8,000 soccer fans watched a thrilling game between the two respective champion teams. Hakoah scored after 18 minutes when Haeusler connected on a pass from Schwarz and scored on a terrific shot.

Canadian Nationals tied the game 1-1 when Green drew Fischer out of goal and passed to Finlayson who scored.
