Great players: Freddie Fletcher

Frederick James Fletcher was born in England. Freddy played with Southend United in the English Football League Third Division.

He joined the Royal Navy in 1939. On D Day he went ashore just one hour after the first assault. He was wounded after seven days in the conflict.

Freddy came to Canada in 1947. The inside left first played with Toronto Greenbacks and then with Ulster United in Canada. He traveled with Ulster United to the 1951 Dominion Championship finals but was a non-playing member of the team.
