Great players: Wally McCarrell

Walter McCarrell was born in 1924. He served in the Royal Air Force during World War II as a fighter pilot. In the late 1940’s he starred at inside left in soccer in Toronto.

He starred with Toronto Greenbacks in the 1947 season. The Greenbacks were members of the North American Professional Football League and the National Soccer League in Canada in the 1947 season.

Wally weighed only 138 pounds. The inside left played with East End Canadians in the 1948 season. In the 1949 season he was a member of Ulster United’s team in the Ontario Major Soccer League.
