First Portuguese Canadian Club won the National Soccer League Championship and the National Soccer League Cup in the 1969 season.
On Saturday July 19 First Portuguese defeated Sudbury Italia 2-0 in Sudbury. On the same day Toronto Croatia tied Montreal Inter-Italia 1-1. The draw kept Croatia in first place in the NSL standings, with one more point than First Portuguese and Toronto Hellas.
On Tuesday September 2 the largest crowd of the season, nearly 7,000, watched First Portuguese and Toronto Hellas tie 1-1. The two teams were leading the league with 27 points each.
In their final game of the season, First Portuguese won the league title when they beat Toronto Hungaria 2-0 on October 9. More than 4,000 fans watched the game. The victory gave First Portuguese a total of 38 points for the season, one more point than second-placed Hellas who finished the season with 37 points.
On November 2 First Portuguese tied the touring team Boavista, from Portugal, 1-1.
