10,000 soccer fans flocked to the new Canadian National Exhibition Stadiums in Toronto to watch the selected team from the English Football Association take on the Ontario All-Stars team on May 24, 1950.
Charlton Athletic center-forward Charlie Vaughan scored two goals in the first half for the English tourists.
Notts County inside right Jackie Sewell made it 3-0 after 51 minutes. Wainwright scored the fourth goal for England with seven minutes remaining of the match.
Ontario’s goal was scored by Toronto St. Andrew’s forward Alex Ptolomey in the 77th minute.
The referee was Hugh McLean. The linesmen were Les Digby and Tom Lancaster.
