Bio:

Anatole Shapka was born in 1921 in Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine. Tony started his career with Toronto Ukraina in 1949. He was said to have formerly played for Dynamo Moscow.

In the 1950’s he was a great star for Toronto Ukraina and helped the club win the Arnold Trophy in the 1952 and 1953 seasons.

Helped Toronto Sparta win the Canadian Continental league championship in the 1954 season.

Returned to Toronto Ukraina before the start of the 1955 National Soccer League season and led the Ukrainians to the 1955 NSL league championship.

Playing at center half-back he spent the winter of 1956-57 playing for the Rochester Ukrainians. He helped the Ukrainian-Americans reach the 1957 National Amateur Soccer Cup Championship final. However, the Rochester lost against the Kutis team from St. Louis.

In the 1957 season Tony helped Montreal Ukraina win the Canadian soccer championship.

Before the start of the 1958 National Soccer League season Tony returned to Toronto Ukraina.

In November 1958 he was signed by the Rochester Ukrainian-Americans. Played his last season in the NSL with Toronto Ukraina in 1959.

Tony passed away in Toronto in 1987.
