After trying out live broadcasts of National Soccer League games in the 1957 season, the endeavor was continued in the 1958 season. However, the telecasts were moved from WGR-TV to Buffalo TV-channel WBEN-TV. The games shown continued to be the Sunday afternoon 3 o’clock matches in Toronto.

Ed Fitkin returned to do play-by-play commentary. Doing color commentary was Ward Cornell, who would later become famous for hosting “Hockey Night in Canada”.

All of the games were broadcast from Fred Hamilton Field in Toronto and featured the Toronto clubs playing against a visiting club from Montreal.

The first game to be broadcast in the 1958 National Soccer League season was the match between Tridents and Montreal Cantalia on Sunday May 18.
