Match report
7,000 soccer fans turned up at Baseball Stadium in Montreal on Wednesday June 10, 1959, to watch the Montreal All Stars take on West Bromwich Albion. The English First Division club was on a nine game tour of North America.
West Bromwich Albion arrived in Montreal aboard the liner Sylva on May 20, 1959. They opened their tour against the Ontario All-Stars in Toronto on May 22, with with the visitors winning 6-1.
The last match on Albions tour was the match in Montreal on June 10. After entertainment from the Montreal Pipe Band the exhibition match kicked off at 8.15 pm.
Ronnie Allen and Derek Hogg scored first half goals for West Bromwich Albion to secure a 2-0 lead at half-time. Allen scored another goal in the second half and Brian Whitehouse secured a 4-0 win with a goal in the last minute of the match.
Aldo Cecchi was the manager of the Montreal All-Stars. The All-Star team included eight players from Montreal Hungaria, six players from Montreal Cantalia and two players from the Canadian Alouettes. Arpad Kiraly was the captain of the team.
West Bromwich Albion sailed home to England from Montreal on Friday June 12.
