Alexander Ptolomey was born in Scotland in 1920. Alex started his soccer career with Old Boys Union in Port Glasgow. The O. B. U. were members of the Scottish Amateur League. After serving in the British Army Alex emigrated to Canada in November 1947.

In Canada Alex joined the Toronto Scottish club. He quickly made headlines as a goalscoring inside forward. After starring for the Scottish club in the National Soccer League, Alex transferred to St. Andrew’s Soccer Club.

On May 24, 1950 Alex scored Ontario All-Stars’ goal as they lost 1-4 to the English Football Association XI. The match was played at C.N.E. Stadium in Toronto in front of 10,000 soccer fans.

Alex was the goalscorer for the Ontario All-Stars when they were defeated by Glasgow Celtic on June 5, 1951. The Scottish tourists won 2-1 at C.N.E. Stadium.

Alex passed away on June 14, 2009 in Milton, Ontario.
