On Friday May 22, 1959 English First Division club West Bromwich Albion visited Toronto to play against the Ontario All-Stars in their first game of its North American tour. In all Albion was scheduled to play in nine games in Canada and in the United States.

A crowd of 7,500 watched the match at Varsity Stadium. West Bromwich Albion scored four goals in the first half and two in the second half.

Brian Whitehouse and Bobby Robson each scored two goals for the English club. The other scorers for West Bromwich Albion were Ronnie Allen and Derek Hogg.
