Former North American Soccer League club Toronto Blizzard joined the National Soccer League in 1985 when they bought the Dinamo Latino franchise. In the 1986 season they operated as Toronto Blizzard, with their famous Blizzard-logo.

On May 18, 1986 they played an exhibition match against Argentinos Juniors at Varsity Stadium in Toronto. Highlighted as a member of the Argentinos Juniors was Hugo Maradona. Diego’s younger brother. Diego and Hugo’s little brother Raul “Lalo” Maradona would later join Toronto Italia and star in the National Soccer League.

6,817 fans watched the Argentinian team win 7-2. Carlos Ereros scored two goals. Jose Castro, Carlos Mayor, Miguel Lemme, Fabio Gimenez and Julian Infantino scored one goal each.

Lyndon Hooper and Hector Marinaro scored the goals for Toronto Blizzard.
