Stephen Breach was born on January 12, 1954 in Brighton, England. He started his career as a schoolboy player with Arsenal Football Club in London. In 1973 he moved to his home-town club Brighton & Hove Albion.

In February 1973 he joined Margate Football Club.

The 5’10” centre-back joined London City before the start of the 1975 National Soccer League season. London City finished the season in eight place in the ten-team league.

In October 1975 he joined Dover, but returned to London City for the 1976 National Soccer League season. London City ended the 1976 season in sixth place in the NSL First Division.

Steve spent a third season with London City in the 1977 National Soccer League season. City finished the season in sixth place in the ten-team First Division.

In November 1977 he joined Crawley Town. After playing in nearly 500 games during a ten-year period for Crawley Town, Steve was given a testimonial against Chelsea Football Club. 1159 soccer fans watched as Chelsea beat Crawley 4-2 on May 12, 1987.
