Toronto Metros-Croatia were supposed to start the 1976 North American Soccer League season with Zeljko Bilecki and Jack Brand as their goalkeeper. However, in April 1976 Metros-Croatia signed former Italian top goalkeeper Paolo. He started 23 out of 24 regular league games. However, he was replaced by Zeljko Bilecki as the number one goalkeeper in 1976 NASL playoffs. Toronto Metros-Croatia won the North American Soccer League playoff championship in the 1976 season.
Before the start of the 1977 National Soccer League season Paolo joined Toronto Italia. He was the National Soccer League’s leading goalkeeper in the 1977 NSL season. After 17 games Italia had only let in 10 goals.
Paolo then returned to Italy. He joined Osimana and stopped playing at the age of 43 in 1983.
