Samuel Davidson was born in Scotland. He started his career in junior soccer with Greyfriars.

Sammy then played for St. Mirren and Alloa Athletic.

He came to Canada in 1947 and joined the Toronto Greenbacks as a professional. He then joined Ulster United.

The right halfback was Ulster United’s captain when they won the Dominion Championship in 1951.

Ulster United finished in second place in the final standings of the 1951 NSL standings
