Bio:

Bob was a Scottish Schoolboy International. He joined Hibernian in 1952 but played for Hibernian reserves until he made his debut for Hibernian against Dunfermline Athletic at Easter Road in February 1956.

In February 1956 he played for the Scottish Under-23 international team against England at Sheffield Wednesday’s ground Hillsborough.

Released by Hibernian after the 1961-62 season. In all he played in 47 league games and scored 3 goals for the Hibs.

The wing-half then joined Eastern Canada Professional Soccer League club Toronto City. He arrived in Toronto on 2 May 1962 together with player-coach Tommy Younger; Bill Muirhead, goalkeeper; John Young, centre-half; David Caldwell; Alan Ashberry; Ambrose Morgan; Tommy McGlennon.

Toronto City finished in second place in the final standings in the 1962 ECPSL season.

Bobby joined Barnsley in August 1962. He made his debut for Barnsley in a league cup game at Hartlepools on 6 September 1962. Placed on the transfer list by Barnsley at his own request in November 1963.

Bobby joined Berwick Rangers in February 1964. He returned to Canada and joined Toronto City for the 1964 Eastern Canada Professional Soccer League season.

Arrived in Canada on 8 May 1964.

On 14 June 1965 he played for the ECPSL All-Stars against Nottingham Forest. The English touring club won 1-0 in front of 4,692 soccer fans at Varsity Stadium in Toronto.

After their disastrous 1965 ECPSL season Toronto City folded and Bobby joined Toronto Roma.

He spent the 1965-1966 season with American Soccer League club Boston Tigers.

After retiring from active play he became a soccer coach, this included coaching the University of Toronto soccer team.

Bobby passed away at the Southlake Hospital in Newmarket in his 76th year on 11 July 2012.
