Charles Christopher Garvin was born on October 17, 1933, in Motherwell, Scotland.
After serving in the Royal Air Force the left fullback signed for Scottish League club Third Lanark in August 1955. Charlie made his debut for Third Lanark against Brechin City in a League Cup game on August 16, 1955, with Brechin City winning 2-1.
In August 1956 Charlie signed for Kidderminster Harriers and played at fullback for that club in the Southern League.
Charlie moved to Canada and joined Polish White Eagles before the start of the 1957 National Soccer League season. The White Eagles finished in second place in the final standings, two points behind winners Toronto Italia.
Charlie was transferred from Polish White Eagles to Toronto Sparta for $5,000. Picked on the 1960 NSL All-Star team.
On 8 June 1961 Charlie was transferred from Toronto Roma to Montreal Cantalia.
Transferred from Cantalia to Toronto City on 26 July 1961 as he struggled with commuting to Montreal for daily training.
In the winter of 1961-62 Charlie played for New York Ukrainians in the German-American League.
Charlie passed away on November 8, 2016 in Surprise, Maricopa, Arizona.
