Bio:

Ken was born in South Shields, England. He started his career with Cleadon Juniors, a club from a nearby village. Scored 95 goals in the 1947-1948 season.

In September 1948 Ken joined Sunderland, a club he had always supported. He signed an amateur contract with the Wearsiders. In August 1949 he signed professional forms for Sunderland. Spent the 1949-1950 season playing for the Sunderland “A” team in the Wearside League. Played for Sunderland Reserves in the North-Eastern League in the 1950-1951 season. Made one appearance for the senior side that season.

Deputy for Trevor Ford in the 1952-1953 season. Released by Sunderland after the season to play in non-league football, but remained on Sunderland’s books.

Signed for Headington United in July 1953. Helped Headington to a second place finish in the Southern League in the 1953-1954 season. Attracted the interest of several Football League clubs in the 1954-1955 season, including Blackpool, Watford and Reading.

Ken signed for First Division club Blackpool on 3 December 1954 for a fee of £2,500.

On 30 October 1958 he signed for Gateshead.

Joined Carlisle United in July 1960.

Signed for Ashington on 10 March 1961.

Joined National Soccer League club Toronto Ukraina in April 1961.

In August 1961 he was transferred to Eastern Canada Professional Soccer League club Toronto Italia.

On 24 October 1961 he signed for Football League Third Division club Halifax Town.

Rejected the terms offered by Halifax Town for the 1962-63 season.

In July 1962 he joined Southern League club Trowbridge.

He later became a player manager for a team in South Africa.

Manager of Port Elizabeth City in the 1968 and 1969 seasons.
