Bio:

Alec Milne was a native of Dundee, Scotland. He first made his name with Scottish junior club Dundee Violet. In September 1955 he was scouted by Leicester City and was interviewed by Chelsea.

Alec, a bricklayer by trade, was signed for Scottish Second Division club Arbroath on 28 January 1956 from Dundee Violet. Played in 40 Scottish League games for Arbroath. Could play in both fullback positions.

On 14 March 1957 Alex was sold to Football League club Cardiff City, together with his fullback-partner Alec Gray for a combined fee of £6,000. The pair were rated as the best backs in the Scottish Second Division.

Made his debut for Cardiff City against Middlesbrough on 7 September, 1957.

Scottish Under-23 International

Broke an ankle in a pre-season trial match in the summer of 1963. Broke his right ankle for the second time in February 1964 in a Football Combination match against Plymouth Argyle.

Played in 172 Football League games and scored one goal for Cardiff City before being given a free transfer in September 1964. Offered a contract with Scottish League club Airdrieonians in November 1964, but refused their terms.

In January 1965 he signed a two-year contract with Eastern Canada Professional Soccer League club Toronto Roma. He was scheduled to arrive in Canada with his wife and family in April 1965.

Returned to Wales and joined Welsh League club Caerleon. Player coach of the club from the 1971-1972 season until the end of the 1974-1975 season.
