Signed for Sheffield United at the age of 17.
Played for Beighton Miners Welfare in the Yorkshire League.
Joined Doncaster Rovers in June 1957. Made his league debut against Fulham in November 1957. Given a free transfer after the season.
Signed for Bristol City on 4 July 1958. He was signed by manager Peter Doherty, who had been the manager of Doncaster Rovers until February 1957.
Signed for Cheltenham Town in June 1961.
Said to be interesting Westminster Royals and Buffalo White Eagles as he had expressed an interest in coming to Canada in June 1962. Left for Canada in July 1962.
Played for Toronto Italia in the 1963 Eastern Canada Professional Soccer League.
In October 1963 he joined Midland League club Goole Town on a four-week trial. Signed for Goole Town in November 1963 for the remainder of the 1963-64 season.
Returned to Toronto Italia for the 1964 Eastern Canada Professional Soccer League season. He sailed for Canada on Wednesday 15 April.
After the 1964 ECPSL season he joined Pacific Coast Soccer League club Vancouver Columbus. In March 1965 he accepted an offer to play for Toronto Italia in the 1965 ECPSL season. Returned to Toronto Italia from Vancouver Columbus in April 1965.
Joined Margate Football Club in October 1965. After playing for Margate in the Southern League he returned to Toronto Italia for the 1966 Eastern Canada Professional Soccer League season.
The ECPSL folded after the 1966 season.
