Bio:
Signed for Irish Football League club Portadown in December 1950 from amateur club Short & Harland. Made his debut for Portadown against Cliftonville on December 2, 1950. Ernie played at outside left when Portadown beat Cliftonville 3-1.
In March 1951 he was transferred to Ards, he was said have had the chance to play in English football. He made his debut for Ards against Cliftonville on March 3, 1951.
Then emigrated to Canada where he joined Ulster United in Toronto.
Played for Hamilton & District All-Stars against the touring Irish Internationals on May 18, 1953 in Hamilton, Ontario.
On Wednesday night May 19, 1954, he played for the Hamilton & District All-Stars against Glasgow Rangers.
