Bio:
Leo was said to have started his career with the Wacker club in Vienna, Austria.
He was the leading goalscorer of Ukraina in the 1961 National Soccer League season.
In the opening game of the 1962 NSL season Leo scored a hat trick in Ukraina’s 4-2 win over Oshawa Italia. The match was watched by 2,000 fans at Stanley Park on Sunday April 30, 1962. Ukraina finished the 1962 season as runners-ups in both the final league standing and the playoff championship.
Leo spent the winter of 1962-63 playing for Newark Ukrainian Sitch. He helped his club to fifth place in the final standing in the American Soccer League.
He returned to Toronto Ukraina for the 1963 National Soccer League season.
While a member of Toronto Ukraina Leo was picked to play for the Ukrainian All-Star team against touring Scottish club Dundee in 1967.
In the 1968 National Soccer League season Toronto Hungaria center-forward Leo Dowhaluk scored fourteen goals in seven games.
Joined American Soccer League club Rochester Lancers in November 1968. Scored seven goals in Lancers’ last two games in 1968.
Released by the Lancers in September 1969.
Leo took over as player-coach of Toronto Ukraina in 1970.
