Bio:
Matt was developed at Queen’s Park in Glasgow. Joined Scottish First Division club Partick Thistle in November 1920.
Described by the Dundee Evening Telegraph as a “big, powerful chap” when he signed for East Fife in December 1924. Received an offer from Preston North End in the summer of 1925 but decided to stay with East Fife.
Transferred to Clyde in August 1926. Put on the transfer list by Clyde in June 1927.
Joined Indiana Flooring in August 1927. 25 years old at the time. The franchise changed name to the New York Nationals on September 9, 1927.Detained in Canada for a month before arriving in the States in the end of September 1927. A reserve for the 1928 National Challenge Cup Final.
Released by the Nationals in August 1928, signed for Bethlehem the same month. Released by Bethlehem Steel in May 1929.
Moved to Canada and made his debut for Ulster United in May 1929. Retired from top soccer when he joined the Toronto Police Force in 1930.
Matt died in October, 1974, in Canada, at the age of 73.
