Bio:
Emil started his career with TJ Gottwaldov. In 1974 he joined Bohemians Praha in the Czechoslovakian First Division and stayed with that club for three seasons. Then played for Dukla and Xaverov.
He then decided to defect from Czechoslovakia with his wife and two daughters. Using the excuse of going on a holiday to Yugoslavia, they travelled via that country to Austria. In Austria they received permission to travel to Canada.
The family arrived in Canada in December 1980 where the family first stayed at Emil’s sister-in-laws house in Kitchener, Ontario. Played in local soccer in the Kitchener area.
Emil won the National Soccer League championship with Hamilton Steelers in the 1982 season.
