Bio:
Desmond first made his mark in soccer with Dumbartonshire junior side Duntocher Hibernian. As a 17-year old outside right he was scouted by Leicester City’s Scottish scout Walter McLean in November 1959. Burnley were reported to be interested in December 1959.
Signed for Aberdeen Football Club on the part-time staff in May 1960.
Scored 30 goals in 23 games for Aberdeen Reserves. Asked for a free transfer after the 1961-1962 season.
Joined Hamilton Steelers for the 1962 Eastern Canada Professional Soccer League season. Arrived at Malton Airport on Thursday 3 May 1962.
Returned to Scotland and signed for Ayr United in September 1962. Asked Ayr United to give him a free transfer in January 1964. Then had a spell with Yiewsley Town.
Signed for Arbroath on 10 August 1965. Signed for Montrose later in August 1965.
Joined Airdrieonians in August 1966.
After a month’s trial with Dumbarton, he signed for the rest of the season with that club in December 1966.
