Bio:
Billy was born in Perth, Scotland, where his dad Jimmy Tennant had played for St Johnstone in the Scottish League. The family returned to Canada in 1957.
16 years old when he was given a trial with Eastern Canada Professional Soccer League club Hamilton Steelers in July 1962. Was at the time attending Glendale Secondary School in Hamilton, Ontario. Made his debut in a 4-2 victory against Toronto Roma on 25 July 1962.
