Club history
Formed in December 1971. Purchased Kitchener Kickers (1965-1971) franchise in the NSL. Started indoor work out in January 1972 at Queensmount Senior Public school.
Intended to be a strictly Canadian team. Had a working agreement with Toronto United of the Toronto & District Soccer League to loan player up to 23 years old.
Opened its season on 7 May 1972 at Centennial Stadium in Kitchener. In front of fewer than 100 fans the Maple Leafs lost against Toronto Hungaria.
After the 1972 season Kitchener Maple Leafs were replaced by Kitchener Srbija in the National Soccer League.
