Bio:
Grew up playing soccer in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Later in his career the goalkeeper moved to Ecuador.
In 1969 Ruben played for Club Deportivo América in Quito, Ecuador. He helped the club to a second place in the final standings in the Ecuadorian first division.
On Sunday 24 May 1970 he played for Liga Deportiva Universitaria against the touring England “B” national team in an exhibition game in Quito, Ecuador. England “B” striker Jeff Astle scored three goals to help the tourists to a 4-1 win. These three goals helped Astle secure a spot on the 1970 England World Cup squad.
Ruben played for Barcelona in the Copa Libertadores de America in the 1972 season.
On Monday 19 March 1973 it was announced that he had signed for North American Soccer League club Miami Toros. Ruben ended the season with a league-leading 7 shutouts during the 1973 NASL season.
Before the start of the 1974 season Ruben joined National Soccer League club Toronto Italia. Got the shutout when Toronto Italia beat Ottawa Tigers 4-0 on 20 May 1974 in a NSL regular season game.
Helped Toronto Italia to a fourth-place in the final standings in the 1974 NSL regular season.
Was in goal for Italia when they lost in the NSL playoff semi-final against Homer on 15 October 1974.
In the 1974-1975 season Ruben helped UNAM win the Copa Mexico and the Campeón de Campeones.
