Birchmount Stadium was built as a multi-purpose sports stadium and opened in 1964. The stadium is located at 75 Birchmount Road in Scarborough, Toronto, Ontario.
During the 1960’s and 1970’s the stadium was mostly used for junior and varsity football. In the 1980’s it started to host an increased amount of minor and youth soccer games.
In 1986 the NSL club Panhellenic moved into Birchmount Stadium and changed their name to Scarborough Olympics.
In 1993 NSL club North York Argentina decided to move their matches to Birchmount Stadium and change their name to Scarborough Astros.
On September 2, 1996 the stadium hosted the exhibition game between Toronto Italia and the Canadian National Soccer League All-Stars. A crowd of close to 8,000 fans packed the stadium to see Argentinian star Diego Maradona help his brother Lalo’s Toronto Italia team to a 2-1 victory over the CNSL All-Stars.
