BOROUGH OF YORK STADIUM, TORONTO

The Borough of York Stadium was opened in 1969. It was located at Rogers and Weston roads in the Borough of York (now part of Toronto).

The stadium hosted two big rock festivals in 1971 and 1972.

In 1972 the Dominion Challenge Cup final and the Ontario Cup final was played at Borough of York Stadium. On October 1, 1972 a crowd of 5,000 watched New Westminster Blues defeat Toronto San Fili 3-0.

Toronto Italia moved into the stadium before the 1973 National Soccer League season. They used the stadium until 1978.

The stadium was also used for rugby internationals.

The stadium was later turned into a park and is now known as York Stadium Park.
