When the Toronto Falcons (formerly Toronto Italia) folded after the 1968 North American Soccer League season, a second version of Toronto Italia was formed.
The new Toronto Italia soccer team that was formed in Toronto in 1969 was led off the field by Gino Ventresca. On the field the team the team was led by player-coach Anders Yrfelt. Yrfelt had played for the original Italia team in the Eastern Canada Professional Soccer League.
The 1969 Toronto Italia team was one of the leading teams in the National Soccer League that season. However, they failed to capture the interest of the Italian community. The club only drew a total of 4,566 fans and folded after the season.
