When the Toronto Falcons (formerly Toronto Italia) folded after the 1968 North American Soccer League season, a new Italia soccer team was formed in Toronto in 1969.

The new Toronto Italia club was led off the field by Gino Ventresca and on the field by player-coach Anders Yrfelt. Yrfelt had played for the original Italia team in the Eastern Canada Professional Soccer League.

The 1969 Toronto Italia team was one of the leading teams in the National Soccer League that season. However, they failed to capture the interest of the Italian community. The club only drew a total of 4,566 fans and folded after the season.
