Played for the R.A.F. during World War II.
Signed for Scottish League club Queen’s Park in May 1946.
Stationed as a civil engineer in Inverness. Played on loan to Inverness Caledonian in the 1946-1947 season. Helped Caledonian reach the Scottish Qualifying Cup northern final.
Capped four times by the Scottish Amateur Football Association. Played for the Scottish amateur team against Ireland at Pittodrie in Aberdeen on 10 December, 1949.
Picked for the Scottish amateur national team that played against Wales on March, 1951 at Ebbw Wale.
On Friday 5 June 1953 it was announced that Bob had signed for National Soccer League club Toronto St. Andrew’s.

In 1954 he played for Rogin’s Rangers in the Essex County League “B” Division. Helped Rangers to promotion, and to win the Firemen’s Cup and Association Cup.
