Bio:
Sandy joined Scottish League club Airdrieonians in January 1965 from Glasgow junior club Benburb. Made his debut for Airdrie reserves on 13 February 1965.
Signed for Scottish Second Division club Clydebank in October 1966.Made his debut for Clydebank in a 1-1 draw with Berwick Rangers on 15 October 1966. Played in 30 Scottish League games in the 1966-1967 season.
After playing in one league game for Clydebank on 16 September 1967, Sandy was transferred to Stranraer Football Club. He would go on to play in 93 Scottish League Division Two games for Stranraer.
Moved to Oakville, Ontario, Canada in 1970. Had an offer to join National Soccer League club Toronto Hungaria but turned it down.
Joined National Soccer League club Kitchener Concordia Kickers before the start of the 1971 season. 25 years old at the time. Rated as one of the better goalkeepers in the National Soccer League. The Kickers played in front of crowds ranging from 200 to 350 in the 1971 NSL season.
A new club in Kitchener was started in December 1971. Kitchener Maple Leafs took the place of the defunct Kitchener Concordia team in the 1972 National Soccer League. Sandy started the season as goalkeeper for the team. Released by Kitchener Maple Leafs in June 1972 after struggling with an injury.
