Milovan Bakic was born on 30 December, 1952 in Beograd, Yugoslavia. He started his soccer career with the youth academy of Partizan Beograd. He progressed to Partizan’s reserve team.

In 1972 he was loaned out, together with teammate Saban Romanovic, to the Serbian White Eagles in Toronto. The pair was expected to return to Yugoslavia after the 1972 National Soccer League season.

However, the pair stayed on and helped Serbian White Eagles to be one of the top NSL clubs from 1972 until 1976.

In February 1977 Mike was sold to North American Soccer League club Rochester Lancers. The Lancers head coach was former Serbian White Eagles coach Dragan “Don” Popovic. Mike teamed up with former Serbian White Eagles teammate Mike Stojanovic on the Lancers’ forward line. Another former teammate at the Lancers was goalkeeper Blagoje Tamindzic.

Lancers’ head coach Don Popovic described Bakic as a “a fantastic dribbler, especially in the penalty area” in an interview with the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle on 9 April 1977.

Loaned out to Serbian White Eagles at the end of the 1977 season.

In March 1978 he signed a one-year contract with Washington Diplomats. The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle reported in their March 3, 1978 issue that he had been transferred for a fee of $6,000.

Joined Major Indoor Soccer League club Kansas City Comets in October 1981. Released after the 1981-1982 MISL season.
