On Thursday May 22, 1952, the Ontario All-Star team took on English First Division giants Tottenham Hotspur. The match kicked off at 7.30 p.m. with a crowd of 11,000 watching the match at Municipal Stadium C. N. E. in Toronto.

Tottenham Hotspur arrived in Canada on Tuesday May 20 and this was Spurs first game on their ten-game North American tour.

Tottenham’s outside right Sonny Walter scored the first goal of the match after seven minutes. During a four minute spell from the 39th minute centre forward Len Duquemin, inside right Les Bennett and inside left Tommy Harmer added three more goals for Spurs.

Tottenham Hotspur held a 4-0 lead at half-time.

27 minutes into the second half Tommy Harmer scores his second goal of the game. Five minutes later Len Duquemin added another goal. With six minutes remaining Sonny Walters scored Spurs’ last goal of the match and the match finished with a 7-0 win for the English visitors.

According to the newspaper reports George Anderson played a brilliant game in goal for the Ontario All-Stars.
