Bio:

Played in 45 international games for Hungary, and scored 12 goals. Described by the Daily Mirror on 14 May 1978 as “having all the speed and skills of Johan Cruyff”.

Came on as a substitute for Ujpest Dozsa against Leeds United at Elland Road in the European Cup on Wednesday night 6 November 1974.

Won the Hungarian Cup with Ujpest Dozsa in 1974–75, 1981-82, 1982-83

Toured South America with the Hungarian National Team in February 1977. Played against Peru, Mexico and Argentina. On his way home he was stopped by Hungarian customs officials for smuggling currency into the country.

On 24 May 1978 he played for Hungary against England at Wembley in front of a crowd of 75,000. England won 4-1 but Andras was rated by the English media as Hungary’s man of the match.

Member of the Hungarian National Team squad in the 1978 World Cup that was held in Argentina.

Sent off against Argentina for repeated fouls.

On Friday 29 December 1978 the Hungarian Football Federation lifted the 12-month ban.

Suffered hip and leg injuries in a car crash on 17 June 1979 after playing in Ujpest Dozsa’s last game of the 1978-1979 season. Went to England to get help from a Harley Street specialist in October 1979 for his injuries.

Toured Australia and New Zealand with the Hungarian National Team in January and February 1982.

Member of the Hungarian National Team squad in the 1982 World Cup that was held in Spain.

Recalled to the Hungarian National Team for their game against Denmark on 26 October 1983. Played in the European Championship Group Three match in front 10,000 in Budapest.

Played in more than 500 games and scored more than 200 goals for Ujpest Dozsa.

Played his last game for Hungary against Mexico on 25 August 1984.

Joined French League club Montpellier before the start of the 1985-1986 season.

Had a try-out with Major Indoor Soccer League club San Diego Sockers in February 1988.

Signed for Canadian Soccer League club North York Rockets on 18 July 1988.

Made his debut against Ottawa Intrepid on 1 August 1988.
