John Shaw Douglas was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1925. He first came to prominence with Queen’s Park Strollers in Glasgow. He then progressed on to their Scottish League side Queen’s Park Football Club.
Jack won the Scottish National Amateur Cup medal while with Queen’s Park F. C. of Glasgow in July 1951. Later that year he emigrated to Canada and won the 1951 Dominion Championship with Ulster United.
Ulster United played against English league champions Manchester United in an exhibition game on Thursday night June 12, 1952. The game was played at the University of Detroit Stadium in front of a crowd of 10,000. Manchester United won 4-2, John played at inside right for the Redhanders.
Jack later worked as a controller at Cockshutt Farm Equipment; Robbins &; Myers, Colonial Wood Products and Century Kitchens.
Jack passed away in Canada in 2011.
