On Wednesday September 8, 1976 Windsor Stars took on the Bluebirds from Bermuda in an exhibition game.
The Bluebirds had paid $10,000 to finance a three-game tour of Canada. The match was played at Windsor Stadium in front of what the Windsor Star newspaper described as a “sparse crowd”.
Windsor Stars scored the first goal of the match after 15 minutes when Nelson Pratas netted on a rebound. Bermuda’s Ivan Broadbent evened the score 30 minutes into the match.
Billy Lee scored for the Stars two minutes before the break.
78 minutes into the match Gus Moffatt scored on a penalty to secure a 3-1 victory for the home team.
In typical NSL fashion the Stars started with one goalie in the first half and changed to their second choice in the second half. Ian Moffatt started in goal, and was replaced by Stan Puskas at half-time.
