Bio:
Born in Scotland, moved to Canada in 1970 and became a Canadian Citizen. First made his mark in senior soccer with the Emerald Soccer Club in Toronto, Ontario. His coach at the Emerald club was former North American Soccer League player Peter Duerden.
In May 1978 he joined North American Soccer League club Tampa Bay Rowdies on a tryout.
Hugh joined Major Indoor Soccer League club New York Arrows in November 1978. The Arrows won the MISL championship in the league’s inaugural season.
In March 1979 Hugh joined North American Soccer League club Rochester Lancers.
Signed by Major Indoor Soccer League club St. Louis Steamers as a free agent on 3 January 1980.
In April 1980 he joined National Soccer League club Buffalo Blazers.
Hugh returned to St. Louis Steamers and signed a one-year contract with optional clauses in August 1980.
In April 1981 Hugh joined National Soccer League club Panhellenic. He represented Panhellenic in the 1982 Labbatt’s International Soccer Tournament.
Joined Major Indoor Soccer League club Kansas City Comets on a tryout in October 1982. Played in three exhibition games for Kansas City Comets, before being cut on 26 October 1982.
Then returned to Toronto Emerald.
