Bio:
Known as Lurch. Started his soccer career with Scarborough’s Maple Leafs Soccer Club. Developed through the Ontario Youth Program.
Played for the University of Waterloo Warriors, while also being on amateur forms with North American Soccer League club Toronto Metros-Croatia in the 1978 season.
Played for the Ontario Provincial Team against touring Scottish club Hibernian in an exhibition game on 16 May 1978.
Before the start of the 1979 season the Maple Leafs club entered a team in the National Soccer League that was known as Toronto Canadians. Drawing on many of its old youth players, including Roland, the club struggled through the season with low attendances.
In April 1980 Roland joined National Soccer League club Buffalo Blazers.
